Searching for balance in an unbalanced world
Living in a van isn’t a dream, it’s a decision
I am raising my son part-time while working full-time and living in a van because it gives me flexibility, stability, and control in a world that increasingly asks for more than it gives back.
This project isn’t about escaping responsibility — it’s about structuring life deliberately when traditional paths stop making sense.
How do adults design meaningful, responsible and comfortable lives when the default paths feel broken — without becoming bitter, performative, or reckless?

This is:
- Pursuit of intentional parenting, meaningful work, and healthy life balance
- Real-world van life (weekdays in the office, evenings in activities and weekends of adventure)
- Reflection over performance
- Design decisions shaped by lived experience
- A community built for people to learn from or share experiences of parenting, van life, or life in general
This isn’t:
- Solely a travel channel (however, we do like to share our adventures)
- Minimalism theater (we are adapting)
- Escapism (we deal with the issues)
- Hustle or hate culture (we promote positive vibes)
Right Now:

I’ve been living full-time in a quickly built van for over three years. There wasn’t much time for research during the initial build, I relied on my wits and intuition and help from friends. Thank goodness for friends! I’ve been customizing for efficiency as I go, grow and learn; but am ready for a new design.
I’ll be researching and taking my time with the build of Van 2.0 and you can follow along, make suggestions or share experiences.
